Hi everyone,
I just wanted to know that,if one connects an ammeter in parallel across an ideal power supply(D.C)what will happen to the ammeter?
1)It will burn
2)nothing will happen, circuit will continue to work.

hi shekhar,
Ideally it will blow the fuse in the ammeter .Unless somone puts aluminum foil over the fuse, because he doesnt have a replacement

Hi Shekhar,
If it's a high-current ammeter, and the power supply isn't protected with current-limiting or a fuse (which certainly is not ideal), then the ammeter will smile while watching the power supply burn.
Don't try it with a car battery, which is a fairly ideal power supply!
