So I recently built a slayer exciter from an online schematic that uses the 2n2222 transistor, I wired everything up and it worked fine. I then decided to modify it a little bit and add a 2SC5242 NPN Epitaxial Silicon Transistor and swapped out the led for a diode that can handle a bit more power. this time though i hooked up four nine volt batteries in series giving me just under 36 volts, it worked just fine and even lit a florescent bulb brighter (and froze an electronic device I had nearby XD ) but when i was looking at the voltage it was dropping at a pretty fast pace until it couldn't power the secondary anymore. so the few questions i have is is there anything I could optimize or swap out to make it more efficient and last longer and would it be possible for me to connect a 12v 1A unregulated wall wart to it or should it be a regulated power supply, I will be mounting the circuit at a later time on perf board and make a proper primary winding.Primary: 5 turns
Secondary: around 700-800
has a top load on the secondary
EDIT: the schematic is the original but the 2n2222 transistor and the led were swapped with the components listed above
