Why don't you just take the jump to propane? Get your gas service
disconnected and put a huge propane tank in it's place. You need to have a
tech come in and change a few $1 orrifices on your furnace, BBQ and water
heater but then you are off the gas utility for much less than any proposal
put forward so far.

Let's see what it is worth to you to break away from the crowd.

Just live outside if you can sacrafice comfort for dollars. Be a real man
and just live outside. It's much cheaper and wouldn't contribute the the
greenhouse gases.

19°C seems to me a very good goal to aim for in winter (you still get to
wear nice wooly clothes without really being cold). And of course, going
from 19° to 20° will take 7% more energy, so it's generally cheaper to
buy a jumper instead of turning the heat up.

AC flux won't turn a compass.

Funny I just put my compass on my ac heated floor .....turned it on and not a
flicker.
And was pointing at true north.

whatever
Really, you have a compass that points to TRUE North??? Hmmmm, you must
be somewhere directly below Magnetic North to get that reading out of a
compass? Seems to me that would put you out in the atlantic somewhere.
Well, no accounting for facts here....

Me who knows about deviation, even if others don't.....

Well, if your are going to take it that way....

(mind you, I have read a recent report that said North Americans tend to
have a much narrower "comfort zone" than Europeans... I guess you are
doomed to over-consumption)

You do? Tim's in Alberta - where deviation should be pretty close to zero.
Out here on the Atlantic coast, it's 23+ degrees.

I do take it that way. I am looking to get more for less not less for less.

Well, if your are going to take it that way....

Not even close.
The center of Alberta has a magnetic deviation of
about -24 degrees the other way. See:
http://www.geo-orbit.org/sizepgs/magmapsp.html

OK, I thought Magnetic North was approximately due north of Alberta, but
then I didn't claim to know about deviation, either. Zero is _definitely_
not out in the atlantic - it pretty much goes right through the middle of
North America (according to that map - I don't know if it moves enough to
be noticeable in our lifetimes) and Europe. In Tim's case deviation could
be anywhere from 16 to 30 degrees.

You both know what I mean......any ways I doubt there is enough EMI from my
floor to cause any harm or interferance. I just put my monitor right on the
heated floor and not a fliker at all.
