You must have trouble sleeping nights knowing that chimps are being held at gunpoint while being forced to paint well enough to be critiqued by ... uh ...experts.

Each to there own individual ethics I guess. I've tried to address with what you guys have said but you've both just skirted around the subject. Which implies to me we just don't agree. Eh well.

Darren, I hope that I didn't offend you. I did try to convey humor but I may have failed. I may have also given the impression that I have no appreciation for art, which is not the case at all. I just feel that somewhere along the historic tracks of art it was derailed by individuals that appear to have spent much of their time in an Opium induced state.

Though it's been some time since I've produced any serious works, I at one time turned hollow wood forms that I sold in art galleries. When the proprietor's would ask what the piece means I'd tell them it doesn't convey any message or meaning whatsoever. It's simply pleasing to the eye. My favorite turnings were southwest native American Ola Bowls. These native Americans historically formed them from clay. When formed in tropical wood they make a beautiful center piece.

It should please you to know that no tropical rain forests were molested by me. All my tropical's were harvested from local yard trees that were sadly destined for a wood chipper.

It's fine man. Just thought we were discussing. I have a problem in that I take things literally so that maybe where the communication broke down. Or more that I can't read humour, sarcasm very well at all.

I'd love to try wood turning at some point.

EP is a tech forum with an impressive cadre of friendly electron and physics heads. One thing it "ain't" is stuffy!

Stuffy is just slang for haughty, aloof, elitist, etc. I don't think that any of our members fit that description. This is despite the fact that EP is a repository of enormous brain power.
