T25001GY RCA "F" Connector broken off...

Hello:

I was moving this POS and the F connector snapped off... anyone know
if this is something I can fix myself? Is it as simple as soldering in
a new one after I discharge everything? It's not my TV, so I have to
get it fixed and I'd rather not spend the $ at a repair shop.

Take it to the shop , unless you have soldering experiance. It may involve
removing the tuner, so its not a fix it yourself type deal.

I was afraid of that... any idea (wild ballpark) of what one might expect to
spend on something like that? My soldering skills are limited to say the
least.

Any where from $45 US to $100 US depending on how much damage the tuner
received.

I've fixed a few of those (3). usually its fixable but you will need
to dismantle the tuner to get to the wiring. If you are lucky you will
only need to graft on a new connector or repair the old one, if not
then it will have cracked a piece off the board which may or may not
be repairable.

The connector itself has a small, flat metal piece that looks like it was
soldered onto something. This is slightly bent, but intact. I took a peek in
the resulting void and couldn't really see much of anything, and I'm too big
of a chicken to crack the case on the damn thing. ; ]

Buy the new Teflon connector they cost a couple of bucks
and wont melt when you solder around it.The original one
was most probably punch fitted.
