Tape wont eject on old camcorder

Hitachi VM-2100A "Saticon" video camera/recorder. There is a tape in it, plugged in, I hit the power button and or eject, and a motor starts humming for about 8 seconds then nothing happens it shuts off and doesn't eject.

did you try holding the eject button down while powering it up?

turn it off. let it set for a minute. hold the eject button down.... power it up.

It was a broken band. I have the entire camcorder apart! All I came up with for a new one was an ordinary rubber band. I might track my progress, here. Cool
