i have used both the 555 and the hcc4060b in designing of circuit and i found out that 555 is an out dated ic that really need not to be used EXCEPT FOR NEWBIE IN ELECTRONICS
that's true but when you are looking for an advancment in terms of functionality
and efficency 555 should be counted out. do you know the you can make 4060 an
have 7 output with different ocsillating frequencies whereas the 555 can only utilize
just one.
A CD4541 timer IC is like a CD4060 in that it has an oscillator and digital counter.
But it works better than a CD4060 as a timer because it has automatic power-on reset, has a built-in mono-stable and your choice of output polarity. ;D
