Hi, I need a circuit to switch off a current for around 60 seconds when triggered.
I have purchased a 555 monostable switch, is this something that could work for this purpose?

Yes you could use a 555 in "one shot" mode to drive something else like a relay or transistor to control the load.

More detail if you expect help

ok thank you

what i have bought is this
http://www.maplin.co.uk/555-monostable-switch-kit-220009

i have a cable with a low current at 12v constant.

what i need is a cheap compact solution to switch this off for 60 (ish) seconds
a variable timer option would be good.
i dont have equipment for pcb production unfortunately

is this maplins product above capable of one shot mode?

thanks for the help
