mmm.. not a nice thing. Don't know if it will help but when we were kids with a toothache mum would put oil of cloves on it for temporary relief.

I cook with cloves (curries) and have a large jar of them and one lightly crushed between the aching tooth really helps - but so do modern medications and since we keep both tooth gel and various painkillers (ibuprofen being the best) in our EOTW kit I have enough to stave off the pain for another 24 hours.

Take this with a pinch of salt (not literally) but once when I was working in a neighbouring Afrcan state not renowned for their medical prowess, I developed an abscess on a tooth. Phoned my dentist who told me to take 5 ibuprofen 3 times a day and come and see him when I got back over the weekend. Worked so well it totally killed the abscess and saved me a trip to the dentist.

Might be something in that. I'm taking 3 Ibuprofen, four times a day and the pain is as good as gone. Will still be seeing the dentist Monday anyway though.
