TV goes pop after new aerial

Fathers TV reception was poor so he decided to renew the aerial which was
very old.

The picture quality was superb after for 5 days, then the TV goes "pop".
Fuse is OK so something inside must have blown.

Is there a relationship between the new aerial and TV failure or just
coincidental.

TV is about 7 years old

Did you create an earth loop by adding a powered amp and having bad
earthing!
just a thought earth loops can do fun things!
