I have some 47000uF supercaps and I wonder of I can use them to smooth the output of a rectifier (5V after rectification) in a PSU. They are 5.5V supercaps.
If they are standard super caps then probably not, the ESR is quite high on the standard types. Do you have a data sheet for them you can post here.

Hi Adam, Thanks for your response. Unfortunately I have had these for a while and cannot remember where I bought them (seemed like a good idea at the time for model trains to help with bad contacts on the track, but voltage was wrong). There are no identifying markings on them, just the values.
