Voltage Reducer

Hi,

I am looking for a Voltage Reducer for 24v dc to 12v dc.
I need a simple circuit able to supply 250mA.

Hi Paul,
Welcome to our forum.
Use an LM7812 12V voltage regulator IC, 2 capacitors and a small heatsink (it wastes 3W while reducing the voltage). Search on Google (WWW Search button below) for its datasheet.

strange ive seen components that look like regulators but they reduce the voltage instead

Hi Steven,
Of course regulators reduce the voltage. The 78xx regulators need an input voltage at least 2V or 3V higher than their output, and can have a maximum input voltage of 35V.
