Where is the mode switch located in Orion VR213 (VCR) ?

My VCR is not accepting any tapes and when I manage to manually unlock the mechanism that loads the tape, the VCR immediately spits it back out.

I suspect I have a problem with my mode switch and lots of forums suggest cleaning it out, but I cannot locate it in my model nor can I find a photo/diagram/schematic of the part or the chassis.

That problem occurs when the sensor (IR sensor) at the left side of the entry door (cassette slot) is dead or dirty. It is the sensor which provides the signal to microcontroller that cassette is being inserted and also the signal that cassette has been fully inserted. Try cleaning that IR sensor. it is an IR reflector and detector in one package. There might be other issues also but this is the main reason. I studied TV and VCR Repair and Servicing some 23 years back.
