Who invented the mu-follower

The mu-follower is well known in tube circles, but who invented it? The
earliest reference I can find to it is a 1993 article by Alan Kimmel who
apparently had 're-discovered' it.

Well the White Follower patent is dated 1943 and I expect the cascode
was a long time before that. So was the mu follower before the White?
