Hello I have a unipolar stepper motor
Part # PM35S-048-HPE8
Made by NMB
Its a small motor , runs off 12 volts. I am just trying to understand the wires.
Theres 5 wires coming out of the motor
colors are like this Yellow Brown Black Green Red. In that order.
I am thinking the black is the common. that was easy, and the yellow and brown
are for one winding andth the other two, Green Red are for the other. But what I don't know is which ones are for the center tap. Anyone seen something like this
Thanks gogo -
Isn't there a diode missing in that circuit?

I like the way it is.
As far as the rattings work. I think it just mean that the more you respond the higher rattings you get. I spend a lot of time reading on this form and have learned much. Never know Maybe someday I will move up from the newbie class. ha ha I still have a lot to learn.

I like egale by Cadsoft
When I first tried egale from cadsoft I didn't like it but now after using it for awhile I love it you can just about do anythiny with it. I got the free download and it dose have some limits like size of the board but I don't make big boards anyways. You can print out the pcb and even mirror the print. Also You export the image to a gif file.Cadesoft has a good site to get help on you just have to read a little or there is plenty of help on the web for it.
I might try protel they have a interesting simulator in there shareware downloads
I don't kown how good that is but its worth a try.

Wow
I spend a lot of time reading on here . Maybe on a average of a hour a day sometimes two. How do you check your stats?

Good reading
But I do have a question. I am new to electronics and the question on capacitors kick another question. I read someplace that if you do not have the size capacitor that is called for its ok to go larger unless you working with r/c . is that true?

Wow the more I use Eagle the more I like it. At first Ihad a problem with 2 sided boards and the way eagle palced the traces, but now after playing around with the prog I figured out a few tricks. I think the best one is making most of the traces on the solder side. I do this by first running auto router with the top of board set as n/a and after its done routing only a few wires are left unrouted the I rerun auto router and set the top as - and the few remaining wires are placed on the top side. I like that. Just had to share my thoughts gogo

Hopefully this is a good home for this. "Free e-Books on Electronics" sticky in this site. Some good books and sites on here.(don't need to be a member to view it)

8) You know another thing you can do with Ferric Chloride is add Muriatic acid to it.
Muriatic acid is about 30% Hydrochloric acid and the rest is water. That will replenish the mix > I add a quart of Muriatic acid to one gallon of mixed ferric chloride. Let sit for a day and its just as good as when I first mixed it. Learned that one off a user net site, whis I could find that site again
Have fun

Wow
great response, Thank You all for your suggestion and info I wil get more in to the eagle web site and see what I can find.
Thanks gogo -
Hello
I could use some advice. I use PCB Wizad software to make my PCB's I llike the program but it has a small component library. I do make my own symbols and it is easy to do. But I want something better.
Eagle's software looks good and $125.00 for a noprofit license is not bad.
I have dl'd the free tria and am trying it
I have search some of the eagle support help files. But I think My problem is that I am new to electronics and I do not know the correct names to the components I want to use. I do look in parts catalogs and that dose help some but there are some Like.
For example
The power Socket 2.5ml that you plag a wall wart into.
Pic 16F series microcontrolers eagles seems to have all the C series
lm386 amp , I know its a linear device but I can't find it in the components list.
I have more but I want to see if I get a response to this
Also OK this is a question, The eagle software is a trial version, is the paid version better. As far as libraries go?
Thanks for any respones

OOPs I got to watch what I type late at night sorry about that, My math was wrong.
Very Sorry

No I use ferric chloride, I was just repeating what someone eles said about the microwave trick. I didn't think that was a good idea either.
I like ferric chloride. Its easy to use and last a long time. Just have to be carefull not to spill it. Makes a nasty stain on everything.

Ya and theres a lot of other trailware out there too
no thanks gogo -
I dL it and tryed it Looks good.
Thanks gogo -
Sorry about that just had to say it.
volts * (times) amps = watts
and if you had a 110volt 100 watt light bulb it would draw how many amps
110 /100 =1.1 amps 110 devided by 100 equals 1.1 -
Ya confused try this 536 watts = 1 horse

Hello
Thanks for the reply. I guess I will have to read it a little more, when I am awake.
I like to read myself to sleep at night. That works at work too. ha ha but Ya I will go through it again and if I do have a problem I will let you know.
Thank You
