The pump is supposed to flow 35 gal @ 5.8A. 12v

What  kind of current spike can I expect on start-up?

And can I use the PWM at a lower draw initialy to cancel some of the higher spike?

I have an elec water pump that I want to modulate water flow. (ie. pump RPM)

-DC brush motor
-12-14v
-12A max
-no reverse or braking required

From all I have gathered so far, PWM looks like the best method so far.

I am looking for direction on some good circuits, and where to look.

Or if there is a more efficient method etc.

Dang thing after 12 months during play will just stop, then try to read the disc. Displays code H05.

I dissassembled to clean and inspect. It then worked fine for a while and is now back to the same issue. Any info on the Panasonic codes would be helpfull.
Any info would be helpfull...

[IBM T23 Notebook battery Li-ion]

This looks like an amazing site, I just found it today.

IBM T23 Li-ion battery. This battery will register as being fully charged, then when in use, 20 min in will immediately register 5% charge. The battery is getting tired, as all things eventually do. Right? Well, not wanting to pay the price of an all new pack, I looked into renewing the cells. Well after doing a little research on the Li-ion batts, ( from this great site, I might add) I found out that cell discharge stops @ 2.3v/cell via the "smart" tech in the pack. However, the per cell voltage in my "dead" pack is 3.96v. I watched the battery monitor on windows indicate the power drop, yet when my multimeter is showing 3.7v/cell under load with the  laptop speakers playing music, I et 'kinda suspicious.

What gives?

Are the batts. toast? Or is it the circuit board? Or what...

Any way I can easily test the batts. for health?
