What would be some appliances that have reed switches?
I found one in an old mac printer, but it was a normally closed reed switch.

From my under standing the boards are heated up enough to melt the solder and the chips are placed on them.

keep in mind what ever pump you use should be made of plastic or else it will corrode... A submersable pond pump would probably be a better solution, and the best part they are cheaper than a windshield washer pump. (In the US anyways)

It would be alot easier to buy a pump.
How bigg of a pump to you need? How many Gallons per minute and how many feet of over head power do you need? -
you could use any type of moter and just put an off balance weight on it...

What is the purpose of stopping the IR? What is it interfering with? Or do you just have problem with light below the visible spectrum?

I remember reading your post a while back, but didn't have time to reply that day... Sorry I'm late.
My idea is just to use your existing radio and voice amp with one mic... when you push the push button it will come out the voice amp. When you let go of the button you will be talking on the radio. I am attaching a schematic. If you have any questions just ask...
For your second question: as long as your input voltage is greater than or egual to 14.6 volts then you can use the 7812 voltage regulator, this will regulate the voltage at 12 volts. You can get this and any other components you need for your project at http://www.futurlec.com (radio shack may have most of the parts tho)

How about a timer circuit that when energizes times 5 seconds then sends the signal to the relay. After the circuit is de energized the timer resets and waits to repeat the process...
I don't know of a way to do it, but it is a theory... -
Electrodes will sense a closed circuit the instant water bridges them, and any wave (even tiny ones) could potentially cause opening and closing at ridiculous rates
This is true, but it is also true for the reed switch. ( I like the reed switch idea)
Let's complicate things... Now we need some kind of circuit that doesn't turn on the relay unless the switch is closed for more than 5 seconds (or something like that). -
What setup would you use to trigger the relay, and what relay would you use?

besides using electricity, what would be the cheapest and easiest way to heat a furnace. I am interested in making a furnace of my own... Looking for guidance
