[Help a newbie out!!!!!]

Hi I need some help!!

Im using a 9v battery to power a transformer but the transformer only works momentarily how can i make it work continuously(or however you spell it) or i need to change the power source to D or C batterys

i'm ashamed of my computer it's a compac presario 4400 with a pentium celeron 1.3G and 381M in Ram runing windows xp with a 40G hard drive and crashes at least once a week it's a shame
