Basic 2 or 4-pole induction motor? Any idea of its resistance or inductance?
I think the snubber is likely where it's at. What values did you use?
You may have to use a larger one to limit 1000W of reactive load to 25 V/ -
A generic platinum RTD with get you a 100th of the way there for about $100.
There are also precision thermistors that are about as accurate for about the same price.
A metrology grade platinum RTD will get you a 10th of the way there for about $600.
I assume you already have signal conditioning hardware that's every bit as accurate?
Your pockets must be deeper than mine. I'd stop at $50 and 0.25 -
I'm not sure where to start with a PIC but I'm currently laying groundwork based on this:

I already have a TW523 interface. The plan is to set up an X10 controller with a motion detector for the lights and the thermostat in the basement. Having a real time clock and an lcd display and X10 serial communications connected to the same controller will require some elbow grease.

I put mine in the dishwasher and let it sit for a week.
It worked but I agree. I wouldn't do much more. Decent keyboards are cheap. I won't look at those that aren't even if they're wireless.
OOH! AHH! It's wireless! Most anything computer related that you buy is going to be cheaper in a year. I never buy bleeding edge unless it's a must have for the task at hand.
