My educated Guess?
An Electromagnet to demonstrate how Magnitisum works. -
You should read the notes before attempting to build the circuit Ante Posted. The project is located at http://www3.telus.net/chemelec/Projects/MC1466/MC1466.htm

Here is the Datasheet
-
I just look online at the same site.

Here is the Datasheet.
There are many substitutes that will fill the space. -
Sounds like you have a real project on your hands.

Post on the circuit request section.

You never posted a picture or Schematic.
The Brand and Model number of the circuit would help us help you.
Post all of the info you have. -
Maybe it killed the battery from too much load.
Did you try a new battery? -
ummm what were we looking at?
The nice picture in the background distracted me. -
Found this but no datasheet yet.

(Q)--Is a Shockley the same as a Schottky diode?
(A)--No.
A schottky diode is a fast switching diode with a low forward voltage drop.
A shockley diode on the other hand, also known as a four layer diode, is a thyristor that switches once its breakover voltage is reached. -
Nice Datasheet.
Here is a non electric Ceramic Resonator LOL -
Black Indian Ink works well.
-
Here is all I could find I don't know if it is the same as the part number has an extra digit.

Why Replace them?
Capacitors of this type almost never go bad.
Electroletics are a different animal. -
