Guest Kasamiko Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 Hi m8,,I'm making a project which draws power from my Serial Port, unfortunately a usual diode combination connected to pin 7 and 4 (RTS,DTR) will not provide enough voltage to power my project, I need 5 Volts DC @ 10 mA. All I get is around 1.2 to 2 Volts. Is there a circuit to meet my requirements..Thanks.rHoNnZ Quote
mixos Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 The following circuit is an example how to get power from RS-232 serial port. It gives regulated +5V power for logic circuits and also unregulated positive and negative power supplies for RS-232 transmitting circuit. The circuit gives only few milliampres power output because the power available from serial port is limited (and resistors R1, R2 and R3 limit current more).more info can be found here: http://www.hut.fi/Misc/Electronics/circuits/rspower.htmlor here: http://www.designnotes.com/CIRCUITS/compser1.htm Quote
Guest Kasamiko Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 Thanks a lot Mixos for the link..Now I figure out why I got only within 2 volts..I'm drawing about 10mA from it.. ::) ::) Quote
