How difficult is it to make a portable mp3 player?

It will be enough if the player can support 20 - 25 songs in it?

Are smple chips there to make one?

It would be real fun.

siddarth, this topic has a thread here somewhere on the site. I recall posting a link to a website in that conversation. You might want to use the search feature to bring it up.
You will have to use a microcontroller and program it for the data transmission to and from the hard drive.
Here is the link I posted:

Hope this helps!

Hi,

Ive seen devices where you can plug in them a USB Flash disk (any) which has MP3 files and then you plug the device in the cars lighter socket (for power) and this device has built in FM transmitter so you can listen to the MP3's on the radio.

You can dismantle it and make your own package ;D

It wont be cheap either.

Not much of a help am I, hehe.

Siddharth,
You need to click on the "Hardware" link on the left.
Here is one of the pages:

USB model:

Clicking on the schematics will open them in a new window.
Click on the software links on the left to get the cource codes and click on the downloads link to get all the files in downloadable versions.

Hope it is helpful.
