Hi all,
I need help identifying a transformer from an emergency light fitting. The brand / make of the light is a Menvier Safe 8 S8NM/3. The fitting runs an 8w fluorescent tube (TL8) and the battery pack is 2.4v 4Ah NiCd (1.2v x 2). The markings on the transformer have long faded so I cannot make out identifiers and I'm hoping someone may have repaired a similar one. The transformer is circled in the image below.

The transformer surely has been damaged for a reason. Since you're dealing with a safety relevant installation, I recommend you get a new emergency light instead of repairing this one. If the light unfortunately fails when really needed (we hope this will never be the case), it is you who would have to take the blame for the failure.

agree with Harald

you have 2 public liability issues here

1) that Harald touched on .... if it fails when people need to evacuate a building and they cant see where they are going

2) the circuit is at mains voltages and higher, if you mis-wire the repair and it goes up in smoke and burns the building down .....

with the second one, you have a double whammy ... 1 ... you caused the building fire; 2 ..... the emergency light failed and people are bar-b-cued cuz they couldn't safely escape

BUY a new replacement :)

cheers
Dave
