Turning LG smart tv off on the mains

I want to connect my LG smart TV to a samsung smartthings smart power socket so that I can turn the tv on and off with the app and voice command. Question is, is it safe to just turn a tv off at the mains without putting it into standby first?

I am quite sure it is not more dangerous than leaving it pluged in 24/7. In other words, i beleave it is.

Standby has the advantage of a "soft start" ... as in it doesn't subject the electronics to large power spikes
But with what you are doing, tho you will fully turn it off ... turning on will still put it into standby again anyway
and you will still need to use the remote power button to fully turn it on

I have a TCL and turn it on and off everyday at the wall outlet.
No problems so far after 5 years and it comes straight on.........i.e. does not go into standby.
Guess it's the lemon thing...suck it and see.
