help i.f transformer how to make one

hello everybody


please can somebody help me, explain me, i search on the internet how to build one , but i dont understand
how to make if transformer

i dont know nothing about transformer, i just know that they us to step up or step down voltage

i am a begginer

As a beginner you need not and should not build a transformer !
All you could ever need may be bought cheaply.
In fact professionals rarely build a transformer,they buy them as well.

Yeah, it is hardly worth winding your own I.F. txmr, you would need to know the intermediate freq for one, and type of device/stage on the in and out side.

I think I've seen some articles on winding your own.... it's not easy but equally not impossible either. It IS, however, a lot of trouble!

What is your specific application? It's often easier to make crystal filters of specific bandwidths than do it using transformers unless you're after some 'expensive' centre frequency (455kHz crystals are rare and expensive for example) and if it's for a receiver there are plenty of opportunities to choose your own i.f.

i am reading the book, build you own radio transistor, is very good book to learn to build radio receiver, but i did not finish the book.....

You will need to decide the purpose of the transformer. Is it to change the impedance or to provide a tuned circuit or both. The traditional IF transformer has an input winding and an output winding, both tuned with a capacitor and critically coupled together.

The transformers are often wave wound to reduce coil capacitance - not easy to do.
The wire may be Litz which is multiple very thin strands, all of which must be soldered.

If you want to change impedance at a high frequency, then the transformer can be wound on a ferrite toroid.

You need to specify frequency, bandwidth, power and size. If you can find one with the characteristics you want, it may be possible to copy it.

How does that design result in an i.f transformer? Where is the secondary?

I wound a 3" coil and a 1" coil. It was used at the IF port of a Double Balanced Mixer to pick up the 1600Khz IF that feed it to an AM receiver which was tuned to 1600khz using the AM receiver as the IF for a dual conversion set.
