Hi community,

I try to build my own AC protection circuit for my modified air conditioner. To explain it simple, I've transformed a Danby air conditioner to let him go down near 5 degC. Just by replacing the thermostat you think??? Not at all. I've to remove the Danby electronic board and add a manual switch to control the fan, the compressor and all works. BUT!!!! by removing the electronic board, I've also removed the AC protection. I can easily replicate the Danby one but my wish is to understand what I do.

I'm really good in DC but AC I never touch this from my life so I do not understand what is the X and Y safety capacitor, why I've to short the varistor (this will generate a short circuit) .... I mean, I'm losted in AC circuits. I've read some online technical discussions but I still not understand.

Could somebody can teach me please?

Thank you

Martin

Don't play with mains supply as you quite obviously know nothing about it.
You will fry yourself at best, at worst, someone else.

As Bluejets said, please dont play
Please get a qualified tech to look at it. We dont want to read about you in the obituary column

cheers
