I want to use 555 as pulser to a 4000 series IC that will split into 2 alternating pulses
I want to use 4000 ser IC but I lost my diagram and I believe it was a 4011 or 4017.
and then another 4000 ser to boost the output to Transistors

What frequency do you want?

I want to drive an old collection of vibration frequency meters , some are lo voltage
and some are 120 v. I already built a stepper motor drive and one line was attached to a Vib meter
so using 4000 ICs does work and the meter is not picky except it takes a while to settle down
after changing Freq. This is just a very old bucket list and will be abandoned afterward
This system is not at all suitable for modern electronics

I wonder if this description and circuit rings a bell for you.
A 555 timer configured as an astable multivibrator generates a square pulse depending on the values of the timing resistor and timing capacitor. In the second stage, there is a decade counter CD4017. This counts the square pulses that are coming from the timer IC and gives stepping pulse output through four switching transistors.

If I were to use only 2 of these outputs to drive a synchronous motor
would it make any difference which 2.
To boost the output power to transistors what ser 4000 would be best

This is the part where I don't completely understand the question.
So for DC I would use a optoisolator and a power mosfet for 120 volts DC.
For AC I would use a optoisolator
Driving a triac for 120 volts AC
And for both I would use a SSR or solid state relay. Does that ring any bells? This is all off the top of my head, theoretical,but I'm sure, if I search I could find a schematic for you. cuz I am using a stupid phone.

The circuit schematic I lost was the same one that you gave me using a 4017 (thanks)
I used 2 of the 4 outputs and upped the power with another 4000 to transistors
at this time I only want to test lovolt Vib meters and it seems to have worked fine
I now wonder if the sequence of the output of the 4017 causes a delay in that only
2 of the 4 outputs are used.
I have a few 4027 that have 2 outputs but I can't seem to get them to work
and several diagrams that are very different pinouts.

I'm fairly new at posting so I'm going to try
I hope you can read this attempt
I built both of these circuits and they don't work
The wiring on the 4027 has #14 and #15 going going to additional IC and then Transistors
The second circuit has the 4027 #15 going to additional IC
and # 14 going going to #3 of 4027 and then #1 going to additional IC instead of 14 of previous circuit
can this be correct
I'm trying to generate 2 poles for lo volt AC

I built both of these circuits and they don't work

Too unspecific. What doesn't work, which parts work?

• is there a clock signal at pin 3 of the 4027?
• is there a clock withg 1/2 the frequency at the output pin 1 of the 4027?
• is there a clock with 1/4 the frequency of the clock from pin 3 at the outputs pins 14 and 15 of the 4027?
• are the clocks at pins 14 and 15 inverse to each other (see image 1 in my post #4)?
• are these clocks present at the inputs 3,5 and 7 as well as 9, 11 and 14 of the 4049, respectively?
• are these clcoks present at the outputs 2, 4 and 6 as well a 10, 12 and 15 of the 4049, respectively?
• is point "A" in the left schematic connected to a power source? What is te voltage at point "A"?
