Using the test button I get only C and R. So I can say it's not the power plant... Look at the size of the diodes!!! Typical seventies bridge! The transformer is a fine example of that era also... I don't think the heatsink is bad... unless there is a ghost in there.... Get out of there you slimer.... It's less than 100w. So driving my array of 500w might be a chore for the poor little thing. I remember something already.... It's a good idea to let these warm up before you drive them home. Where should I start?

Image of jacks...speaker outputs and Dolby set. Licensed in Canada. Video pass through for two(2) monitors. And remote in and out. Two(2) switched, and one un-switched 100w 1a,max power source AC plugins. Good to cool the immense heatsink, and startup accessories, like a preamp, phonograph, cd player, tape, or VCR.... Wow, it's bridged from pre amp to mains... And the rears are hard wired, with no banana plugs.... subwoofer is RCA jacked, probably for a passive output, requiring a powered subwoofer. Hey a guy might use one of those switched AC plugs on that thing... Pic for you!

This morning, I was resistance testing the jacks, and found both video inputs, labeled VCR 1 and VCR 2 jacks have continuity to the chassis on their lead jack pinout. That lead me to a chip on the board assy #4001002700B. Thought I might swap the board if I can find one. It's got two(2) riser boards, one for the powered remote volume, and the other for the tuner.

There is also no continuity to chassis ground, on the main input jacks which are user jumped to the pre out for the front channel. For when you are using amped speakers for that channel.

His NEW avatars smiling facial countenance just . . . SHOUTS . . . of extreme awe strickeness and "I just FOUND it ! " . . . . . using a pointing finger.

Now . . . .roughshawd . . . . . you say
Using the test button I get only C and R.
Do I read you right, that your CENTER and RIGHT channels audio power outputs are working O.K., with there being no LEFT channel power audio output?
With no mention of rear RIGHT and LEFT channels . . . . . . (which you might not use.)

I took it apart to reset the connectors, just in case it was a bad connection. Now I have no output anywhere!! So the VCR monitors (there are 2) inputs have continuity(200 ohms at 88.1 and ,88.2 respectively )between the pin and shield.

And speaker output 2 (there are 2 stereo, 4 total, two each left and right, are reading at 20 ohms while the main speaker outs are reading 10.1 ohms.

Looking at your supplied photo, as being seen just above, the MORE appropriate question . . . instead . . . .
Does the TOP E-capacitor look more "left-ish", or does the BOTTOM E-capacitor look more "left-ish" ?
I wouldn't be faulting either cap . . . . now back to the unanswered ? of mine . . . . when it last had sound was it just the LEFT channel that was not working ?

On the test, with only the center channel speaker connected. I got test sound from both the center and the right tests.... All other channel tests were quiet. The test is automatic and cycles through the channels...testing each one.
