Hi all. I am working on another old Delco Car Stereo Control Data Module (CDM). Model Number 16169996. AM/FM Stereo "brains" part of a three component system. No schematic is available.
This one has two components I am trying to identify. This should be easy for the radio guys. They appear to be Crystal Oscillators of some type, but running the numbers imprinted on them is not helping me identify what they are exactly. I have photos of them both in and out of the circuit and their respective placement on the board has been color coded with arrows. You can see that the red one is also enclosed in its own section on the board, I am assuming to prevent RF interference in that area. They are in the radio tuner section of the board.
So my questions are: What are the two components exactly? What purpose do they have in the places they are in? Are there replacements available and what should I look for when trying to source them?
I may have additional questions after you reply and thanks in advance for any help. Also note that I would prefer you try and explain it like you are telling a ten year old.
I am somewhat versed in components, but my technical radio knowledge is low. Thanks again.
