Hello All.

I recently bought a 9 LED UV disco light that is controlled by a RC.
Unfortunately it came without the RControl, so all it does is flash 6 of the 9 LEDs.
The Seller refunded me but didn't ask for the unit back.

So, is there anyway I can get this disco light to work with another RControl unit please?
I have written to the maker but they do not have any spare RC units as this must have been a last one in stock.

Just seems such a waste just to throw away plus awful for the environment.

Thank you.

Is this a true RC or an infrared control?
Anyway, it will be hard to clone the controller without a working unit at hand. With a working unit one could use e.g. an Arduino and analyze the signals it emits. One then could reproduce them using e.g. said Arduino.

Alternatively open the light unit to see what's inside. Would you be willing and able to replace the built-in controller of the unit by a self programmed unit using a small microcontroller board, e.g. an ESP32 which could (comparatively) easily be controlled via WiFI using your smartphone.

Hello,

The remote seems to use IR.
See this picture taken from Amazon:

Sorry Harald, it is a infrared controller.

When I get chance I will open it up and upload some images.

Thanks Bertus. I have already included an image of the Infrared RC in the opener.

Hello All again.

Been ill with COVID so I haven't been able to get some images of the circuit board until now.

Attached is the circuit board that sits inside the UV light.

I wouldn't know where to start looking for anything that is RC/infared based.

Like I said, it's a good light (the item only cost £20) and such a waste not to be able to use it, so any suggestions will be gratefully recieved.

Antenna points to it being some form of radio signal......
Either way, no way of knowing what is used to control it.
Live with it as is or bin it.

Thanks Bluejets but somebody has already put up a RC to control it. That is what I am short of. I was just wondering if it can be canabilsed so it can be used.

No, what they said was, that is what it "seems" to be.
Presence of the antenna sort of blows that idea out of the water.;)

The Amazon page clearly states ‘RF remote control’.

Thanks Bluejets but the product should have come with a IR/RControl. That is why I can't use it.
I have contacted the company but they don't have any to replace the missing RC.

I have no way of controling the LEDs. That is why I am on here asking if they is another way around the problem.

Hello everybody.

Apologies but the item went up into the roof and subsequently got forgotten about. My fault.

Is there any way around this problem and getting the item to work please?

I have had a recent search for a remote control but no joy.

Have we established if this UV is 'Remote Control' or 'Infa Red' or even a 'Radio Signal' please?

Kind regards,

I believe it to be RF.
The board has a 6.7458MHz crystal which can be used for the 433.92MHz transmitter frequency.
These are very common with cheap 433MHz transmitters and receivers.
You would have to try several cheap transmitters to find out which one works for your unit. Try eBay, they have thousands and you might get lucky first or second time.

A job that has resurfaced.

I really don't want to bin this item so, can I remove the RC part of the electrics that will allow the LED to be on all the time and not bother with controlling the flash etc?
Just want it to work as as it stands, when switching it on only half the lights come on, obviously waiting for the RC handset to be used, which I don't have.
Thank you.

So buy another.
Pretty obvious fix.
This time make sure you get the lot.

Wow! what an answer! Not! A great way to look after the planet!!

I was simply wondering if something could be removed/added to allow all the LEDs to stay on, that's better than only half just flashing.
Oh and BTW, the product was bought new but the remote was left out. When I informed the Seller, they gave me a refund as they stopped doing the item and didn't have a replacement RC.
Just don't want it to go to landfill.

Ummm, I don't think so. Please leave this topic if you don't have anything positive to help the situation.

Now ignored, for lack of intelligent and positive support.

I like you for some reason…HeHe.
So you don’t have a RF transmitter, but you do have the receiver.
You’re going to have to open up your unit and take a photo of the PCB. I should be able to tell you what frequency it receives,so you could go out by yourself your appropriate transmitter.

Thanks for replying DP and the information supplied.
Closer to the top of the htrea are two images, are these what you are after?
Basically I just wanted to know if the recieving part can be disconnected/removed so the lights just stay on. Not worried about flashing/sequencing.
