I'm a total idiot to electronics circuit... any kind soul pls help me.

i'll like to build a circuit that can
1.) close a switch to another circuit for a duration of 5 seconds.
2.) after this 5 seconds, the switch opens.
3.) wait for 10 mins before step 1 is repeated.
4.) I'll like to have this repeated for 30 times.

thks awfully. this will be my first electronics project! hope i can pull it through.

A simple RC circuit has it's limitations with repect to accuracy. I would not investigate wave shaping techniques. It is my opinion that you can't correct for the inaccuarcy of a capacitor through the use of semiconductors. A capacitor is just perfect in every sense when it comes to semiconductors.

I would like to help you, but there is really no newb friendly circuit to do what you want, the circuit I was going to suggest would require many components and would probably be beyond your current electronic capability.

Sorry I couldn't help you, I I were you I'd try a simpler circuit before jumping in at deep end.

What do you want this circuit for?

i'll like to it be built as a control to connect my IR digicam's remote control so that i can take star trails at night....

=(

if there anyone out there that can help me with this project? i do not need high accuracy but something that can close a circuit every few mins for a few hours.....

anybody else out here that can give some tips abt this circuit? :)

maybe point me to a general direction where regular delay actions of a circuit can be studied?

don't look down on gals..... once i get this up, i'll post it here to show u guys. i just need to read up more and test it out. :p

Dear gnipihz

If I were you I would use a mcs-51 microcontroller (i.e. 89c2051).
Its programing is vey easy and  U do not need any cpmlicated circuit.
If U do not know programming U can ask a friend to write it for U but if
U are a little bit inteligent U yourself can learn it in just three days.
