My laptop the firebomb

I had a laptop that litterally went up in flames in December after I had purchased a new Lithium Ion battery pack. I was lucky to be at home to put out the fire because otherwise the building would have burned and someone might have gotten hurt. I had to hire a lawyer to deal with the laptop manufacturer and the battery web site lawyers when they got back to me. These companies are not accepting their responsibility and are still screwing around after 4 months. I don't want to read about any people dying in housefires before they decide to act so I'm looking for forums to post the info with pictures. I dont spend a lot of time online so if someone could advice me about  the best way to spread the word I would be grateful.
Thanks

Give us more information and your experience using this battery. It will be very helpfull for all of us.

Lithium batterys can be very dangerous if wrongly maintained or of low grade. Here in Scandinavia we have had several accidents with these batterys in Nokia cellular phones. Some unlucky users of Nokia phones have been burned in the face from fast burning low grade batterys.

Lithium burns very hot with a white flame like magnesium, doesn't it?

Hi Audioguru,

I am not sure about the color of the flame but It burns violently in contact with air (oxygen) so never try to open these cells!!

I might take it apart very carefully outside. Put it in a bucket and throw lighted matches at it!  ;D

It's a good thing that you mentioned this danger Ante , I love to pull things apart to see how they work ;D, a lithium battery would have eventually became a victim of my curiosity .

Hi Audioguru Dazza,

The bucket is a great idea, just fill it with saltwater and leave the cells in it. This is way you can save your matches!

Hee, hee. ;D It says to store extremely flamable lithium in gasoline! (petrol for some blokes) ;D

If there's any air inside the container and you shake it, then ... Kaboom![move] ;D ;D ;D

Ooooo (as Homer Simpson says)
I want to try this...
I have some lithium batteries (rechargable) but they are not working cause I 've got them for many years!
