“Need Help Identifying and Valuing Vintage TRW TDS5180 Chip from Tektronix Equipment"

That is a monolithic video converter chip. Maybe worth the gold content if you had a thousand of them. Probably worth £30 to someone who needs it.

    compatible eth ports for laptop

What do you mean the port died?. Pins broken?. If not, it’ll be the circuitry itself so soldering a replacement port connector won’t work.

2 Fried Shure BLX88 Boards: Identifying components and diagnosing

Con400 is more than likely the DC barrel connector. CON being the reference designator. Lots of unidentifiable components too. I believe you will need a schematic to identify the components. But first try and use the good board to ohm out the components.

    Makita DMR104

Yes, it is the same component. Many manufacturers drop or omit the first number and letter for many reasons. But usually because of space on the casing. In your case, it is an On Semi component. On Semi Datasheet

    Restoring a SWTPc 198A/207B

There are many ways, but my first thought was to file down the original shafts to fit the new caps. Or if the new caps are solid, drill them out to fit the original shafts.

    Hacking the op amp...

AK, this chap won’t answer any questions. If he does, it’ll be about a question asked from him. Every single thread by him is the same. We have to pry the information over 4 or 5 days and that’s if he responds!

Can someone suggest me an upgrade for my car that doesn’t require any wire cutting or voids insurance and warranty, but still gives an excellent econo

Can someone suggest me an upgrade for my car that doesn’t require any wire cutting or voids insurance and warranty, but still gives an excellent econo. No. Not possible. The ECU will record all changes and void your insurance and warranty . Possibly send the info via satellite before you even know.

Older Big Discreet Circuits versus Multiple Micro Circuits in ICs

You’re retired looking to save money on repairs by doing it yourself. Time is not money in your case. I’ll give an example: A cordless angle grinder £150 comes into my work that’s not working. We have a minimum labour cost of one hour £45. Upon stripping the tool, it requires 2 bearings, a fan...

Older Big Discreet Circuits versus Multiple Micro Circuits in ICs

Then the answer is yes, absolutely. If you have the time to research and the time to do it yourself, then you’re not paying someone else for their labour. Plus you won’t have overheads to contend with like 25% on top of components. Now, you still have to have a basic understanding of what...

Older Big Discreet Circuits versus Multiple Micro Circuits in ICs

We seem to be going round in circles. You had plenty of answers in your other thread about this very subject. You have already stated that you’re not interested in the hobby and only want to make extra money. Do yourself a favour and watch some YouTube videos by ‘mend it Mark’. He repairs all...

    Deadly repair.. hamon crodan

On a serious note, I trust you replaced the capacitors for the same values?. In that case, there clearly was other issues. Check the bridge rectifier and X2 filter capacitor for shorts first. And obviously the mains cable. Then come back with PROPER information. Don’t make us pry it from you!

    How to de-solder?

Blimey guys, give a little credit where it’s due. The OP can’t solder but got it done somehow. Even admitted that it’s not the prettiest!. Remember, we all started at the beginning.

    How to de-solder?

Soldered connections (if done correctly) are very low resistance so won’t/shouldn’t heat up. Now, if inferior wire or wrong gauge is used, the wire can heat up and melt the solder. That’s not the solders fault, it’s bad engineering!. My battery packs include a 72V. The cells are spot welded and...

Well done, it’s soldered. So how do you disconnect it?
