    What do I need?

You had "lab kits"??? What i do with all of my repairs is take a lot of pictures and make a lot of notes which are stored to PC under brand and model, so I can reference in the future. So far however, my memory's fine so, once I encounter a problem and resolve it, I rarely have to go back to my...

    What do I need?

I own a lighting company with a small rental inventory and, because of my location (3rd world island in the Caribbean) I have no choice but to troubleshoot and attempt to repair my inventory when a unit goes down. Most times I simply swap out defective PCB's or power supplies with available...

No output from fog machine PCB

And yes, the bottom image was reversed to match up with the top image.

No output from fog machine PCB

Sorry about the first picture. It wasn't properly labeled. Here's the updated picture, properly labeled. And here's my update: The unit also has a separate 36VDC power supply, probably around 2A, which I believe provides separate power for the LED side of the unit but this PS wasn't working...

    Led pinspot 2

Same problem I had a few weeks ago with some similar units. Same brand. different model. Same problem. You guys picked up the problem from the onset just from the pictures. Something else learned......

No output from fog machine PCB

Hi wise ones, I've got a fog machine that's completely dead, not powering up at all. The model is a Chauvet Geyser RGB and it can be mounted to output upwards, downwards or sideways and it also has an RGB LED output to illuminate the fog in different colors. The PCB controls both the fog output...

    12VDC Backup supply

Love hevans1944's comment!! Based on this 1300mAh Ni-MH battery's amperage, what size resistor should I use? Based on your formula, h/ m (hours to charge / 1300mAh), how do I figure out how many hours for this battery to fully charge? Remember although it's new, it was in a spare parts bin and I...

4 Channel Car Amp not outputting

Thanks kellys_eye!!! The problem was the input connector. I simply retouched all the solder points and viola!!! Back in business!! Thanks again for all your help. I thought I might have had a more serious problem.

    12VDC Backup supply

    My bad. It's actually 1300mAh. It's labelled 12VDC mAh Ni-Mh.

    12VDC Backup supply

Hi guys, I have the GPS connected to a small 12V power supply at present for testing so i connected the positive line between my meter leads and checked for current draw. Without me dialing into the GPS from my phone, the current draw is between 1.5mA ~ 5mA. When I dial into the GPS and my phone...

4 Channel Car Amp not outputting

Hi again! 1. Current supply coming in 12VDC. Green POWER LED lit. Voltage display on top of amp displaying 12VDC. 2. The amp is supposed to function without the remote via 1V signal into the RCA line. The controls are there to set gain limits. 3. I'm using a 30A supply. I would think it's more...

    12VDC Backup supply

Right. Understood. The current drain on the battery when the GPS is actually called upon to function to transmit data. Wouldn't a larger battery with the ability to handle a greater load be the solution to this?

    12VDC Backup supply

Hi Steve, I don't understand what you mean by not needing the GPS to operate. Will using the lower value cause a malfunction or not cause the GPS to function at all?

    12VDC Backup supply

Hi Auidoguru, I'm trying to get the hang of the calculation. 175/40 = 4.375 ~ 4.4mA. Why is 40 used as the divider? I am just trying to understand the calculation so I'm assuming there's some sort of set formula.

    12VDC Backup supply

OK. So we're sticking with the Energizer 9V rechargeable, which I can easily hide inside a door post. Use the diagram above and use two 1N4001 diodes and a 680Ω 1/2W resistor. Correct?

    12VDC Backup supply

Here you go. So one diode prevents power flow from the backup in the main line, the other prevents overpowering the backup battery from the main battery and the resistor allows a trickle flow from the main battery to the backup for a slow charge. Am I correct? As I'm a novice, can you explain...

    12VDC Backup supply

The power required in standby mode is only 0.2mAh. I would think the 12VDC rechargeable at 1300mAh would be a good choice.
