    Do you know if the fault is on the input side or the output side of the tms? Im guessing its something like a TMS9901 have you removed and checked the transistor to make sure its good? Happen to have a part number on it?

    can you show other side and mark the pin for the signal from float switch. I work on auto modules, may can help you fix it. but souncs like its possibly a I/O failure on the tms from your other post.

    The best solution for this is already whats in place imo, you cant just replace the float that is already there? If you want to build your own just copy whats there already. The signal to control module or lamp is just as you described open or grounded.

    24v .38a is not a whole lot. I'm surprised it did any damage. I'd Focus on this area in picture. Should be pretty simple to check these things with the help of youtube. Especially D1, D2 and U1. Maybe Q1. If all of these are ok then your probably going to have trouble tracking it down.

    They are all lead free for a long time now from what i see which is nice imo. I prefer to avoid lead when ever I can. I'm much to sloppy to have to worry about proper handling of it.

    With out some support like glue or being taped down it may detach itself but that is a bridge to cross when it happens I reckon. good job on getting it working again!

    I've always herd it referred to as a "cold joint". Glad to hear the reflow fixed it.
