    Philips Mini Hi-Fi FMW154 help?

Could have done a bunch... everything to knock out a fuse to completely blow every component on the board... its rare that it gets that far, but it could happen. Hell, I had a lightning strike go through a telephone modem (remember those!) and take out my entire computer about 10 years back...

Can anyone id the male/female connector pair in this picture?

You may be able to find something that would mate with either end from one of the big distributors, like Digi-Key or Mouser, etc. As Dave stated, most manufacturers tend to use their own spec on connectors to keep people buying new stuff. Just out of curiosity, what kind of device is this? You...

What could be inside of this device?

If you know its a load of garbage, then why are you asking what is wrong with us? As far as all of us being mental... I can say as far as I go, that I am, but only a little, nothing that would cloud my judgement to where I would do something dangerous or bring harm on anyone. And as far as...

    Lighting system for Didgeridoo

As far as things go, all I can really offer is my opinion on this. I would say that the analog side of things, once worked out, will be simpler to implement, and if done right, probably a little easier to repair if there is a problem. However I can say that I have seen some very interesting...

Laptop Power Brick Connector Change (Warning: HUGE pictures!)

Doubly so Dave... I thought my internet connection was really slow... more than usual :-) wrtii- Okay, more than likely the VO is the positive lead, and the very center of the plug (marked "ID") probably has some sort of resistance to use as an identifier for the power supply itself...

    Useful calculators

Very nice find Dave! Mods: I think this should either be stickied or put into a good, handy place. I know at some point I'll need it :-) and I can defiantly say the same for others as well. Matt-

    Linear RF power amplifier

Well Dave, I gotta say, it looks good to me! but then again, I am less concerned about some of aesthetics of things. That is something in the line of what I was thinking of... but I just wasn't sure it would be very effective. I'm glad to hear its running a bit cooler. Matt-

no of pin issue- smart card chip( 6 or 8 contacts) and microcontroller(40 pin)?

Well I do know that not all of the pins on the microcontroller are required, the majority of the I/O pins are not necessarily required. VCC, GND, and CLK are definatly required, that I can tell you, there will also be some sort of data bus, those would be the ones that I know.... possibly the...

    Linear RF power amplifier

Yes, sorry, I was referring to the internals of the unit in question, just to see what kind of constraints you were working with.

    Improvements and Suggestions

Well from what I am gathering, it would be a place that one could go to look up a part via manufacturer part number or a standard part number, to come out with another part number... it would probably be best implemented with a database of some sort... though I'm not sure that is fully feasible...

    Linear RF power amplifier

Can you post a picture of where those amps are? I'm rather curious considering the space constraints.... maybe we can think outside the box :-) Matt-

no of pin issue- smart card chip( 6 or 8 contacts) and microcontroller(40 pin)?

Good evening and welcome to the forums. First off, I would like to say that there are many different types of smart cards, the majority are generally designed for information storage and secure access (like a SIM card in a GSM based mobile phone). Some government bodies also use them for...

    Improvements and Suggestions

I'd agree with Dave, I know that I would love to see a projects log section... with that being said, if one does get created, Could I have you move a post of mine :-) ? I also agree with shrtrnd's post as well a nice place for cross references would be really handy. I know I could contribute...

    Linear RF power amplifier

Well Dave, your theory is sound... the PC RAM heat sinks tend to do pretty well. most of them have the heat sink sticky stuff (the adhesive itself), which doesn't generally do as well as it could as far as the heat transfer, but it does work, I did notice a serious stability improvement a few...

    Insight on Sanyo PLC-XP30 problem

I think its still recommended to not touch the lamp... for the same reasons as that would defiantly kill the lamp a little prematurely (uneven heating across the bulb surface).

    Insight on Sanyo PLC-XP30 problem

Hello there and kind welcomes to the forum, I completely agree with Both Dave's on this one, going to a service center to have them reset the lamp timer sounds like an excellent idea. I have found after doing a bit of Googling, that you can reset the life timer yourself, however some of the...

    A greener idea...

I am a fan of your idea, and for many applications it would work, probably fairly well. That stated, it will still be a while before hardware could keep up with the demands of a lot of the applications now, considering more and more people / developers / companies are moving their operation...

A new concept for the electric kettle

Because water is very dynamic when it comes to heating it... it does not heat evenly, as in places within the kettle could be a few degrees different from where it is that you are measuring... how much different I don't know... But using a digital temperature probe, moving it around (on all...

A new concept for the electric kettle

Well if anything else, using 1 thermometer in conjunction with any of the other devices would give you a more accurate reading, provided that other device is basing its readings on a known value. Measuring the temp of water VERY accurately can be difficult, which is why the suggestion is out...
