    Woo-Woo The Engineer's Ghost Box

We already suffered several threads of this mumbo-jumbo claptrap on the Electro-tech-online forum. Such as this thread.... http://www.electro-tech-online.com/threads/my-ghost-box.151177/ I recommend that you guys not feed the troll any further

Gold-coloured areas on laptop circuit boards - gold or pyrite?

Yes, I just love to drive 2 miles to join a 10 minute to 2 hour queue (good day compared to Sunday/bank holiday) to dump my old electronics. Looks like I need move to Cheshire (especially since I like cats and cheese). What is the weather like there? I get the point though - if you want to...

Gold-coloured areas on laptop circuit boards - gold or pyrite?

..... or fill your garage with identical boards and get enough scrap value for Big Mac for Mom and Pop, and happy meal for all four kids. You might even be able to "go large" depending on how big your garage is :) Gold edge connectors - cut off - might be more worth the effort of recovery...

Help With a LED Clock Kit Please

Welcome to the forum :) It looks to me as if there is a defect in the PCB provided. Maybe Google for others who have had the same problem with your board. I reckon there must be a lot of other dissatisfied customers out there. Pin 15 of the Atmel 89C2051 chip should connect to segment D of...

Woo-Woo Small Generator Homemade, Created In Educational Purpose Lighting E 27 230 V Led Bulb

Show your calculations so that we can tell you where you went wrong. Your calculations might well be correct, but the assumptions that you base the calculations on are probably wildly out. No way is your generator producing 69% of 7W with a 2 Watt input (if that is what you are saying).

Woo-Woo Small Generator Homemade, Created In Educational Purpose Lighting E 27 230 V Led Bulb

As LittleGhostman has tried to explain on your other post here: http://www.electro-tech-online.com/threads/project-small-generator-3.150560/ , just because you are using a 7W LED, does not mean that you are generating 7W of power to it. Since input voltage is 3.7V and loaded current is 0.48A...

Question regarding ic / microcontroller chips

No... Reset simply starts the firmware program from scratch (usually address zero) Any RAM data will be retained, unless the firmware resets it. It will certainly cause less data loss than power down would.

Question regarding ic / microcontroller chips

What you suggest will not work. A micro-controller will usually power itself through I/O lines, even if you kill the +5V supply. What you may be able to do, is to assert a reset signal on one chip, which will cause most pins to go high impedance. With luck, this will leave the other controller...

    iPhone 7 headphones connection

Judging by this site, this is not something that you can build for yourself: http://appleinsider.com/articles/16/10/06/x-ray-of-apples-iphone-7-lightning-headphone-adapter-finds-mystery-circuit-likely-for-dac The 3.5mm headphone plug wiring is shown here...

    Test Setup Help

Somebody else will need to answer that question - I do not have one of those connectors to hand. I think that the two are compatible, but I cannot be sure.

Try here: http://www.technobotsonline.com/pre-crimped-wires.html Simply buy housings of your choice and slot the pre-crimped terminal in. Longer lengths only seem to come in female to female variety though.

    IR LED and Reciever circuit

Perhaps you could put an oscilloscope on the transmitter output to be sure that you are transmitting 38kHz (+- 1kHz) If transmission frequency is about right, then try blocking the IR light between Tx and Rx with your hand. If the oscilloscope shows a short pulse low at receiver output when you...

    IR LED and Reciever circuit

Hmmmm I may have made a mistake.... The only receiver I have that works with DC is Vishay TSOP4838 ...But that is what you are using!!! :( :( Maybe the receiver you have does work down to DC, but then I don't know why it would be causing problems. Now I am confused too. Sorry...

    IR LED and Reciever circuit

Am i not modulating my output by feeding it from a 555 then? No, you are producing a carrier with no modulation. As producing my square wave signal is that not a form of modulation? No, if you want to modulate your 38kHz carrier, you need to use a second 555 (or the other half of a 556) to...

    IR LED and Reciever circuit

This receiver is not suitable for receiving a constant 38kHz signal. You will need to modulate the 38kHz (like a TV remote does), or choose a different receiver that can handle a steady 38kHz signal. Check out page 5 of the datasheet:
