What is your favourite type of component?

capacitor, since that blows up if you put in too much voltage :D

    Kill switch for small engine

For my boat, the kill switch that i installed grounds the positive end of the spark plug leads. i got lazy and didn't use a relay, since any large-resistance wire is always less resistance than the infinite resistance spark plug. It works really well. For the kill switch you could install a flap...

from my experience working with transformers, not all are marked.

    Power Inverter

i agree, unless the boat's motor is running. Your boat needs a 120v inverter that supplys adequate wattage to your system, so if ur system needs 300 watts, then put in a inverter at least 1.25x the required power.

Trying to find out the name of a type of component.

very true, but mosfets and triacs are both based off of transistors.

Trying to find out the name of a type of component.

or a transistor, itn't that something like if the one of the sides has to be a higher voltage than the other sides?

    Powered sub help

on the transformer there are two sides, the 220/240v side, and the other side which could be pretty much any voltage the manufacture wants it to be. plug in the high voltage side, then measure the low voltage side on a/c. be careful to not shock urself ;D. if the low voltage side equal somewhere...

    Homemade starter relay sticks

i'm literally a full on mechanic/electronic person, and solenoids aren't really hard to hot wire. i'll probably find something on ebay soon enough. in the meantime i'm gonna use the DIY one that i made :D

    200w Bluetooth speaker build

those BT speakers probably won't handle 100W. 100W on those speaker will blow them out real fast.

    Homemade starter relay sticks

nah, there aren't any scrap yards within 50 miles of my location because most people who can afford to live in my area sell their car before it gets too old, so not many cars make it to scrap yards. There are some in seattle, but they're import cars and i don't want to spend time in trying to...

    Homemade starter relay sticks

i'm using an industrial solenoid, the same ones they use to control flow in pipes. i believe that those are way stronger than the ones they use in starter solenoids. my boat's motor isn't anything big, just a 600cc outboard. according to here...

    Homemade starter relay sticks

Hey guys, I made a starter solenoid for my boat cuz im a cheapo. i made it from a push-pull solenoid, and couple brackets and screws. when i start the boat, the 90A of current tack the starter uses welds the cast iron contact points together, making me have to pull the plug on the starter. is...
