    Help for breadboarding components

Well linear technology is talking about a not as critical as with many other DC/DC converters PCB layout. The LTC and the transformer are available as free samples, so the OP can probably give a cheap try before buying 150$ evaluation board.

    Help for breadboarding components

The LTC3108 works at rather low switching frequency (datasheet page 16) so a breadboarded prototype should be OK. The upside down mounting of the transformer is a good suggestion however.

Audio circuit needs a second look.

Just try any of both values

Audio circuit needs a second look.

Sorry mistyped I mean R1 and R18 are paralleled Olivier

Audio circuit needs a second look.

R15 and R18 are paralleled, only one resistance will be OK, R17 is probably not needed. Also having wires under ICs will not be very easy, a second reason to spread things out a suggested by Steve.

Analog to Digital Converter with electronic switch...

Hello Eden, You can use a so called multiplexer to achieve that. A cd4067, a very popular part, can do the job. It' s a 16 inputs mux, so 3 of them connected on 3 ADC channels will be ok. You can select them simultaneously (pins A,B,C &D), having 3 measurements the switch to then next...

    Replacement for a microcontroller

Communicating to serial port without microcontroller can be done but it's certainly will not be cheaper. Decent µC are available for 2 euros + a basic RS232 translator, this can't be beat.

    -4.2v

Modern LCD don't need negative supply anymore (and they are deadly cheap). However you can use a pump charge like the generic 7660 or the negative output of a RS232 translator like the max232 or 3232 Olivier

FET switch circuit - is it correct

Yes a FET will be better, that's why I send you the mosaic link . The link contain very detailed information's of how it's work, nice way to learn (without becoming a parrot). The figure 3 of this link...

    FAN5345

OK, but we have a simpler setup to work with. Can you post a sharp picture of the small PCB ? Are you aware of the pin numbering not like on any of the datasheet schematics but like on the pin configuration paragraph (just in case) ?

    FAN5345

Yes a simple switch will be able to drive the pin 4, but as suggested by Steve, better to let the pin unconnected in order first start at full brightness.

    FAN5345

sure you can try that, or any more elaborate debouching circuit.

The datasheet talk about digital pulses, so a microcontroller will be better, with a push-button you can have bouncess

    Op amp power supply help

Op amps able to directly drive an headphone do exist, like this one: http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/294/NJM4556A_E-218655.pdf the part is available at mouser Olivier

    FAN5345

This kind of cabling afraid me a bit. As your small pcb as an header I suggest to mount the parts on it with components wire length as short as possible. The PCB picture is blurry, please post a sharp one to look at the solders. And yes the component is a step-up you should have higher output...

FET switch circuit - is it correct

Please fin here under a link to very exhaustive way's to use FET an push-button to turn-off a power supply http://www.mosaic-industries.com/embedded-systems/microcontroller-projects/electronic-circuits/push-button-switch-turn-on/microcontroller Olivier

FET switch circuit - is it correct

The LM317 can be turned off with a transistor, see: http://www.brighthubengineering.com/diy-electronics-devices/119294-interesting-small-lm317-enhanced-power-supply-circuits-explained/#imgn_6 5V Regulator with Electronic Shutdown paragraph It's not a real turn off, instead the output voltage...

Require a motion sensor that can penetrate through perspex/acrylic

Hi David, PIR sensor looks to be the better solution to me. What you may try is to reduce is sensitivity should be easier that the other way around. Capacitive sensor based on pcb's plates can be tried too. Olivier

    LM2596 inductor, capacitor, diode

The component mounting method don't impact the design that much. You can also create customs parts by entering the main characteristics according to the parts you intend to use. Olivier

    FAN5345

Hi, The FAN5345 is running at 1.2Mhz, not sure that a breadboarded solution can work. however posting sharp picture(s) of your setup can be a good start to help you. Olivier
