Yamaha Stagepas 600i - Rchan keeps blowing

I would be inclined to remove all the transistors on the errant channel. Then go round with a DMM and check that all the resistor are as they should be. Then assuming all is well put a brand new set of transistors in and check very very carefully, using a magnifying glass if necessary, for any...

Lessons Learned and When the Chips Are Down

I should have mentioned that you should also connect the metal case of your potentiometers to the battery negative as well.

Lessons Learned and When the Chips Are Down

If your project is in a metal box, connect the negative side of the battery to the box. If it is not in a metal box, you could line the inside of your wooden box with cooking foil. Each piece that you put in must be electrically connected to all the others. Ideally there would be no gaps in the...

Lessons Learned and When the Chips Are Down

Personally I would put the tone back in. I play a bit of guitar myself and you do need some control over the tone. The circuit that has been removed does actually work.

Lessons Learned and When the Chips Are Down

Forget all about what you understand about capacitors. All capacitors have impedance which is analogous to resistance. A capacitors impedance is frequency dependent. Rising frequency causes its impedance to diminish whilst falling frequency causes its impedance to rise. It is this aspect of it...

DC voltage blocker - Blocking AC too?

I have recommended a book called "The Art of Electronics" by Horowitz and Hill several times on this forum. It is probably the best book for learning about electronics from base zero. Not cheap but worth it.

How to clean oxidized USB plug?

I have used a Fibreglass bristle cleaning pen in the past to clean contacts. It works really well. Was surprised to see that they are still available. Amazon have some as do RS Components and Hobbycraft.

    What music do you like?

Now there's a question. I have very broad taste in music including Classical, R&B, bit of Punk, Instrumental, Soul, Reggae and much more. Don't like country music or the modern idiom. A lot of my taste is buried in the 60's and 70's and some of the 80's. Bands I like: The Stones. Fleetwood Mac...

    Op Amp assortment

You have reminded me that I once used an opamp as an and gate in a design where I had no spare room or logic but did have a spare opamp in a dual package.

I get all of my electronics bits from Farnell (Newark on the American continent) or RS Components. The bits are always of good quality. I would never consider getting electronics bits from Amazon or Ebay.

    Transistor series voltage regulator

I like to think of it as an Emitter follower as that is exactly what it does. The Emitter will always follow what ever is on the base minus, of course, the base emitter voltage.

Have you measured the dc output voltage of the channel in question with respect to 0V assuming it has a split supply.
