    So I broke...

I was aware that it was an SBC and not a microcontroller but as you said it's like the pi in being overkill. Main reasons I chose it was A) Like myself it was cheap and B) Python is my go to for programming. My problem I suppose is I like to over challenge myself with something a bit more...

What's the best way to learn any programming

I'm partial to python and java. Python is probably one of the easiest languages to learn right next to Java. Of course this is my opinion but a great many companies utilize it as it can be added to other languages to upgrade programming. the best part it's open source so there are literally...

    So I broke...

Ok guys, I finally broke down and got one, a microcontroller/SBC. I know what I darn well said about rather not using one but as it was pointed out to me several times you got to at least try to play the game. *For those of you that know what I'm talking about* "I LOST the Game!" But onto...

    Homemade Coil Help

If nothing else if you don't have an inductance meter handy and you order one if you have all the parts necessary you could always clone it.

Must... try at... home. Alright I understand completely I'm going to be having a lot of fun!!!!!

Morse code led without a micro controller

Don't think I'll have any choice but to survive it. ill be forced to regardless. *This is about how it'll go for me* Hey sarge the enemy blew off my limbs can I get you to sign my form so I can die without courtmarshal.... no... But I'm bleeding out sarge... No no no I'll use my tounge to...

Morse code led without a micro controller

You guys make me wish i had a darn time machine. Dont get me wrong I know the horrors of watching your tech go the way of the dodo. At the same time though you actually got lucky or maybe unlucky enough to witness history happen faster than you could keep up with it. Most of my life when i might...

Not sure to be safe or sorry

Today's been fairly s#!t so I actually have them wired in parallel I wasn't thinking when I drew the schematic just kinda threw it on paper with out so much as a look. They're white leds but they've been scavenged from older broken electronics and various appliances so as I stated previously...

Not sure to be safe or sorry

Also due to the nature of not actually knowing which ones came from the same device I couldn't put them in series. (Down side to no proper labeling on the parts bins)

Not sure to be safe or sorry

Lol Yea this was just me messing around with the bits I had in one of my boxes wasn't to worried about it expiring. But here's rough sketch of it. (It's not aligned all that proper either) was just having problems remembering my math

Not sure to be safe or sorry

Ok, so I am not with the program today maybe it's to much coffee or not enough but I'm having difficulty determining a resistor value. As I'm a cheap one I like to recycle parts and pieces where I can (makes for a heck of a job soldering sometimes) I have linked 15 recovered 5mm white LEDs in...

Morse code led without a micro controller

did you happen to make a schematic for it? That sounds fun regardless of wether it's "outdated" heck I still play Atari, nes, and other "dated" systems. (Really wish I could find a Commodore....)

    What is this SMD component?

Umm... a tiny smd that requires a microscope to install? Though this card looks familiar what was it? I think I have one of these somewhere... I have to agree with @kellys_eye definitely measure it that'll give you a better idea of what it's doing, Though I'm not sure what the marking is...

    What is this connector?

Is that an old Christmas village piece? Not sure the exact name I apologize for that but it's meant as a power cable if you look up the piece I'm sure you can find a 'new' cord for it If not look to see what the powerrating is and splice a new cord on

Morse code led without a micro controller

Nah it's a Morse key plugged into my neighbors hijacked internet I'm also stealing his cable via 2k+ feet of stolen coaxial. But shhhh.... ;-P Ok I apologize to all I may have offended what I meant by my earlier comment was simply that if I need to brush up on my basic, dos, python, c#, or c++...

Morse code led without a micro controller

Ok that is in no way what I am trying to make/do. The idea is to take and make a flashing ir light that can be attached to a 9v battery. yes they make them though they are literally nothing more than a surface mounted ir bulb that sits on a tiny piece of pcb on top of a 9v battery connector...

I need to make two devices compatible with each other

You just want to connect them or replace one with the other? I'm confused. I mean if you want them connected but not integrated with each other just hook them to the same power source.... then technically they're connected or set them up on a blind date with each other maybe they'll hit it...

Morse code led without a micro controller

So my original idea was to use either two separate 555s or a single 556 regulated to pulse 3 leds in the proper dits and dahs with the use of a resistor or two. Though from what I'm gathering by what's been said thus far that would not work properly or rather it would be easier to use...

Trying to get this circuit to work on breadboard

Lol it didn't after I got it situated on the board I literally blew the bulb into two pieces. It reminded me of when I was on a mission in Iraq they had a substation in a back alley village. It would be an electricians worst nightmare a transformer actually exploded behind us that's what that...

Morse code led without a micro controller

Cheating sounds good to me as I'm attempting to shove it in as tight a space as possible. Essentially the idea is to make a bunch of them to throw in bugout/hiking bags
