    I'm Back- sort of

Hi Bertus and my other friends here. You may recall that after an almost daily presence on this forum, I packed it in with my interest in electronics. However, I am revisiting this interest and have assembled a portable, multi shelf unit on wheels, that houses a scaled down version of my...

    Back...sort of...

Hi...I got lucky an I found an antenna wire in my junk. I hooked both ends of the wire up to the Antenna screw. It now gets me almost all of the AM stations- which is great. I don't get many other stations on the other bands though. Thanks for the links and diagrams. I may try making one of...

    Back...sort of...

Well, I'm back...sort of... I am still not pursuing electronic projects and circuits for the time being. However, I probably will have household type electronics questions along the way, and what better place to ask, than here. I have a very old Phillips antique radio that my dad passed down...

    Farewell

Hi...yes, I am sure I'll be back in time. Stay safe everyone. Cal from Canada

    Farewell

I thought I would let you know that I have shelved electronics for now, and have taken down my lab. It's not that I have lost interest. It's more that I am finding that I don't have the time it takes to succeed at it. Also, there is no escaping the fact that not having a formal education in...

    New Stompbox Project

s So I should replace R 8 and R9 in the pic I just posted, with two 3M resistors?

    New Stompbox Project

Thanks again for taking the time to provide links and to explain these concepts to a newbie. I appreciate it. Presently, I have the following circuit built as my power source of the LF353. (see attached). Do you think it will suffice?

    New Stompbox Project

    Maybe this explains it? http://www.ecircuitcenter.com/Circuits/op_ibias/op_ibias.htm

    New Stompbox Project

I have a feeling it’s this Input Bias Current: The current that flows into the input pins to bias the transistors (about 80nA in this case). Note: Some FET op-amps have input bias currents well below 1pA. I got This from a data sheet explanation for a particular op amp if this is true, what...

    New Stompbox Project

Hi guys . Bear with me as I am trying to push myself to learn a particular aspect this time around. Here is what i want to learn: I want to learn more about reading data sheets. I know each Op amp requires a certain amount of bias current or voltage at its + pin (usually pin 3) Questions 1...

    New Stompbox Project

Great advice Harald and Alec. Thank you. I have been away on vacation and I had forgotten that it is the diodes that are worth tinkering with to get different distortion flavours. I used to know that. Thanks for reminding me. I guess my question is, if I want to continue to use those...

    New Stompbox Project

hmmm. I noticed that the LF353N op amp has a Power Supply Voltage (VCC) of 18volts I assume its Pin 8 will need 18volts, but how do i know what the + Input requires in terms of its biasing? Can someone tell me where in it data sheet, I can find that out? Here is the datasheet...

    New Stompbox Project

So, I have decided to try another guitar pedal project, but first. I have a few questions: I decided I will use the attached schematic as my template. What I mean is that I will use this schematic as my starting point, but I will be making changes to it- hence my questions: I recognize that...

    The Theremin Stretch

Hey guys...as mentioned, I will be leaving soon and back Sept 7th. I don';t think i will have time to trouble shoot the theremin. between now and then, but plan to get back to it, when i return. Bertus- I also plan to read about theremin design, when i am away. I figure, if I can better...

    The Theremin Stretch

I believe I have because the previous ones I used have the same pin out mapping as the j110s. As I already had adjusted the components to comply, I just had to swap them out

    The Theremin Stretch

Funny- still no sound. R 12 and R 42 continue to show zero volts. Is there anyway of breaking this down and testing voltages at certain junctures to determine where the breakdown is?
