    tinning

Is it advisesble to tin every connection before you solder? Or is it just an unnecessary step. If there is an advantage, what product would you recommend

    Capacitor Swap

Thanks to all and thanks Bertus for the alternative schematic. I read somewhere that swapping capacitors is usually not an issue when swapping electrolytic sin place of film, and that people shy away from doing so because electrolytics take more room. Not sure if that is true

    Resistor codes

I should mention that when i responded and provided resister colors, I was not at home and I was simply making the colors up. It wasn't a real resistor. i was just using it as an example.

    Resistor codes

By the way, I think i was having problems because on the 5 band resistors, it is very difficult to see the spaces between bands. I will print out that chart for quick reference, as well.

    Your Problem Solving Method

I am working on circuit that I have built successfully on a breadboard (it's the one in the thread "A Stretch" that you all helped me with. https://www.electronicspoint.com/forums/threads/a-stretch.293212/page-10#post-1801439 I have put it on a PCB but it's not working. However, my question...

    Resistor codes

I did but if I cant tell which side of the resistor to read from, how would I know. For example, if I have one that is brown. Black black red red how do I know whether brown is the first colour or red?

    Resistor codes

Great guide. Thank-you. My problem however is how to physically determine which side of the resistor is left and which is right. This is an important distinction when reading color bands. So, I am wondering, how do I know what the left side of the resistor is, so that I can look up the colors in...

    Resistor codes

I understand how to decipher resistor codes online or through a chart, but how do you know which end is the first color? In other words, how can you identify color band 1 as opposed to color band 5? Thank-you

Is there a schematic for that somewhere. I am not versed enough to understand that.

There are exceptions, but many Producers won't work with singers that can't sing in pitch. The exceptions being if you are marketing a person's star power looks and you have to tolerate that they cannot sing very well. The characteristics of a great singers are as follows: 1. Wind control...

    Reverse Day/Night

As you know, there are plenty of devices that will turn on lights when it is dark out, and turn them off in the morning. I have a pond however, whose pump I want on in the day, but automatically off at night. Is there a circuit that can do this? Bear in mind that the pump plugs into 120v Thank-you

Contrary to popular belief, auto tune cannot make someone who cannot sing, sing. Used appropriately, it can alter notes that veer off key, usually at the tale end. Even so, it is always better to do a retake if the vocalist is available. Sometimes auto tune should be used if you have a near...

    Capacitor Swap

Hi guys. i am looking at a circuit that calls for a 47uF capacitor. As it does not specify polarity, i assume it is a film capacitor. The circuit is for a 5th Gear Overdrive. Sorry..i can't find it at the moment. I don't have film capacitors of that size. I do have an electrolytic capacitor...

    Ground control to major tom

Hevans..thanks for that. So ground is not necessarily a terminal. It is a thing that allows a circuit's need for a second connection and reference point?

I think we may have hijacked this thread ;-(. I j-=hope we didn't break any rules by veering off. I'm fine with it but I hope the moderators don't see it as a violation.

    A Stretch

I am sharing this post that I previously made on a music board. It explains my opinion about music: This may sound like pessimistic response, but there is not much of a music industry. Once music became compressible on mp3 and shareable, it sucked the life out of the industry. People still...
