    Understanding my mysterious power supply

I am not sure how to even ask this question, but here it goes. I have a digital power supply. It's this one: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07K7DQZZW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Dialong in the amount of voltage I want, is pretty styaright forward. However, i am not...

Another Newbie question about Power supplies

Thank-you. That helped but I asked my question in a twisted fashion. I will be re-asking it on a new thread, as it is a different question. My fault.

Another Newbie question about Power supplies

I have a power supply that regulates Voltage and Current. If I wanted it to emulate the current produced by a 9 Volt battery, can i use the Course and Fine current control knobs to achieve this? If so, what current would i dial in, to replicate the 9 volt battery? The power supply measures...

    Substituting a Capacitor

I am building a circuit that requires a 470 nf capacitor. I don't have one. I do have a box of capacitors that has: 100 UF. 470UF 47UF 220UF 10UF 22UF with varying voltages. These are the cilinder type of capacitors that have a - and + polalrity. I alos have a small bag of mixed capacitors...

    Need help understanding this circuit

Thank-you and sorry about the schematic. I did not think to do that, but will in the future, I am still not clear however. Do pins 1, 2 , 3 and 4 on the IC55 get connected to one another? I don't have a .47uF capacitor. i have a set of capacitors and some of them say 47uF 10V FW but that is...

    Need help understanding this circuit

I am hoping you can assist with my interpretation of the circuit I have linked to below. More specifically, I am building the circuit found at at 8:00 mark in the video (it is called the Sound Generator) Here are my questions. 1. It looks as though he is soldering the first 4 pins on the IC555...

    Circuit Soldering question

Maybe i am just being too cautious. I think if the unit cost over $100, I probably would have just opened a window ;-) But it arrived today and I am very pleased with it. it is very well made and got good ratings. Here it is...

Thank-you. I had no idea thst there so many different types. There were several boards in electronic kits I purchased and I was just goi g to use those. They have round holes drilled in, with solder around the holes.

General Advice on How to Learn Best

I am a newbie and have been roaming between trying projects as demonstrated on Youtube, using a breadboard, doing the odd Adriuno project and trying to code, getting tips from this forum, and reading some theory (Ohms law etc). What I am finding however, is that I can usually follow a circuit...

Thanks for the advice guys. My next adventure however, is to take a circuit that I successfully put together on a breadboard, and try to solder it on a normal board. Just to develop that skill.

    Circuit Soldering question

Bluejets. You are probably right, however, I was in my office trying to solder a circuit on a board and because I am just a beginner, I was making mistakes, causing me to use more solder than I needed. The room became quite full of vapours and so I thought, for a $35 investment, a fume extractor...

I have not tried it, but I have a feeling that would involve changing the capacitor or resistor. Or maybe trying a variable resistor on one branch of the circuit.

    Circuit Soldering question

Thank-you. I am not sure I can do that. I'd likely make a mess. I may try it though. i am waiting for a fume extractor to be delivered to my hom. I was soldering without one and then i read about the toxic fumes, so i have put soldering on hold for now.
