    12V DC to 115V DC?

I clicked on "More Info" but nothing happened. That was the "more info" page. Not nearly enough info about the motor. I suspect it is a universal motor that runs the same on 115VAC as it does on 115VDC. The inverter also doesn't have any detailed spec's, but probably has a squarewave output...

    LM317 Variable power supply

Two regulators in parallel won't be exactly the same. The one with the slightly highest output voltage will carry as much current as it can, and the one with the slightly lower voltage will carry the remainder (if there is any) of the current. Therefore one will be hot (and not last long) and...

    Can I use a 220 ohm resistor with LM317?

Hee, hee. ;D ;D The ones that are made at exactly 2:17PM GMT on a Wednesday. ;D ;D Not many people purchase LM117's. Sometimes the factory's yield in production is really good and many people are buying LM317's. So the good ones that should be labelled "LM117" are instead labelled "LM317". Alun...

    Can I use a 220 ohm resistor with LM317?

If the LM317 has a fairly high supply voltage and you turn down the output voltage to power something that draws a low current like a Cmos circuit, then if the programming resistor's value is more than 120 ohms then the output voltage will rise and destroy the Cmos circuit. Not all LM317's are...

    Problems lately accessing this site

For about 2 days and 2 nights, all I got was a long delay, then "Cannot find server". My ISP got the same thing. Beback in Houston Texas, and Logan is in the Phillipines also couldn't get in. I occasionally got notifications of replies to my posts from this site but they also wouldn't give me...

    Transformer Power Rating

Since 100W into 8 ohms has a p-p voltage of 80V, then this project can't produce anywhere near its rated 100W with only a positive and negative 40V supply from a dual 30VAC transformer. It has a voltage loss of about 7V so the dual 30.5VDC from a dual 23VAC transformer is reduced to 54VDC, which...

An inexpensive little LM386 IC can amplify an electret microphone and drive a speaker with about 1/4W:

    12V DC to 115V DC?

Your motors need 100W. The inverter will heat with about 20W. A little 7Ahr battery can power 120W from 12V only 2/3 of an hour or less. It is 10A from the little battery.

    Problems lately accessing this site

When this site went down a few months ago my ISP said that an internet hub near New Orleans was down probably flooded by hurricane Katrina. If the server is still in New Orleans then maybe the re-building of the city affects it.

High gain circuits like this one definately need the parts soldered onto a pcb.

This site or its server is overloaded??? I just went to www.diyaudio.com and it has 375 people on it which is NOTHING! I've seen thousands of people logged onto it and the "current chats" change by pages each minute. Is our server sick? Does it have a restricted amount of logins?

    Key Finder (pinoy version)

If I want a piezo speaker or any electronic part, I look at the millions of things at www.digikey.com or at www.newarkinone.com, select a size or price for a part then look at their datasheets. I order it online and it is delivered to me the next morning.

i need help extending the keys finder project. can someone help me out????

Alligator clips??? You can use them to short the mic, then completely remove them to see if the circuit works. This circuit has a very high gain. It should be on a pcb with very short wires to avoid picking-up mains hum. How did you change R1's value in a cafe unless they allow you to solder...

i need help extending the keys finder project. can someone help me out????

Hi Logan, Many posts ago I said that R1 should be somewhere between 4.7k and about 6.8k with the circuit's 3V supply. With 22k then the mic's voltage is much too low. The sensistivity is reduced by increasing the value of R2.

    Led display Digital Voltmeter question

Just connect a very low value resistor across its inputs as a shunt. Use Ohm's Law to calculate its value. Which supply project gives a whopping 30A? The one on this site is 3A. It is best to make a voltmeter with a 2V max scale reading and use it to measure the voltage across R7 (and therefore...
