Car alternator, as a stepper motor?

Dazza, here is also an article from Don Lancaster's Hardware Hacker files: http://www.tinaja.com/glib/hackar2.pdf The subject you are interested in is quite a ways down. Scroll to page 116 for the start of the alternator to stepper article. Hope it is helpful. MP

Car alternator, as a stepper motor?

Dazza, There is some discussion of alternator to stepper conversion here: http://www.eio.com/public/stepper.2001/date.html From this site: A car stepper motor must be rewound to turn it into a stepper. The new coils are wound around every third slot with the direction alternating on each wind...

    Led display Digital Voltmeter question

Dear Jose, Your post did not translate very good. Are you asking if this Integrated Circuit Chip, ICL7107SCPLZ is a direct replacement for the 7107 in the project on this wesite? MP

    220V PCB

I totally agree. Another related area is wires soldered to the board. Bare solder and/or bare wires are going to corrode, too. MP

    uv box

ECET, no problem posting this subject again. The old one is quite a ways back there. Maybe it does need to be mentioned again. I use the fluorescent blacklight tubes. The fixture is a standard 2 ft length fluorescent light fixture. My imaging setup has 4 of these fixtures sitting in a parallel...

    220V PCB

If you do not conformal coat the traces, then there will be arcing in the future when dust accumulates on the board. Also, there are some design rules to be found on the web for high voltage track spacing. It is dependent upon several factors, but it is possible to get arcing between traces...

How do you find the size of the cap if no label?

There is a marking system for capacitors. I think someone posted a link to a site for this somewhere on the forum. You might find it with a search. If you can tell us the markings, one of the members here might be able to steer you in the right direction. MP

Can you put a dimmer on LEDs?

Does not sound like you want to use a pot, then. You need to look at the spec sheet for the LEDs you are using.  If you do not want to build a PWM controller or circuit on a board to control this, you might be able to get by with a car headlight dimmer. You might get more useful ideas than this...

    Simple Voice Pitch Detector?

I know you said 175 to 220 KHZ...but I am sure you meant 175 to 220 HZ. Since you are looking for an audio range, and more importantly, only need 175 to 220 Hz, you might search for a guitar tuner circuit. Many of these will allow guitar cable input and meter or light to tell you when you have...

    Thermistor with op-amp

You would never use a pot in the divider with the thermistor. Even the resistor in series with the thermistor must be a 0.01% tolerance or equivalent to get good results from such a circuit. If a pot were added to the thermistor divider network, the circuit would suffer in accuracy. The pot in...
