Buy a modern cordless, there is no electrical connection to the kettle itself. Usually heats faster also0. Only the base is plugged into the socket.

    Espresso PCB Transformer

Sounds like the original version could possibly have a thermal cut-out buried in the windings. Could be activated due to too low a Va size of the transformer?

problem with 48vdc motor destroys relay

So in fact it could be welded at switch on due to high inrush current, and you would not know until you turn it off. ;) Is this an open frame relay, or enclosed? On this type of application, usually arc quench type relay is used on the contacts, a strong magnet is one method used

problem with 48vdc motor destroys relay

The size of the relay contacts are not going to affect the load. If it is the coil gets hot and destructs, then I would suspect it has an AC rating instead of DC? Send the part No.! If you don't have it, then how do you know the specs?? Please confirm whether it is the contacts or coil that is...

problem with 48vdc motor destroys relay

Also by the part No. if it IS a 12vdc coil, then a automotive style may do the job better.

problem with 48vdc motor destroys relay

The part No. has DIP for the first letters and the pinout shown also jive with DIP relay.

problem with 48vdc motor destroys relay

Also that appears to be a DIP relay, I don't know of one at all that would be capable of switching 40A DC !! You would need to use it to switch one capable of that DC current.

    Hobby Stepper Motors

That stepper is geared down quite a bit. For more torque, you want something in the frame size of a NEMA 14/NEMA 23 range, For the size you have, just obtain them with no gearing. The power can vary quite a bit in any given NEMA frame size.

    Hp power use

On a radial blade pump, the load current will also drop as the output is throttled down. IOW, it draws full load current when no output delivery is connected.

Appears to me to be a typical AC ECM (electronically commutated.) 3ph motor, the same technology used in HVAC variable speed fans etc. These are also 1ph fed.

    will wallwart blow my machine?

I am not completely in line with that, I always use linear supplies where at all possible, and if the application will support it. I have retrofitted and serviced CNC and other industrial electronics for many decades, and in the main I have found linear supplies virtually indestructible and...
