Is there a name for this type of motor ?

I should have added however, that the three types described, in spite of having brushes were AC induction only. i.e. Non-Universal. M.

Is there a name for this type of motor ?

Those were quite common Many decades ago and consisted of three types, (1) Repulsion-start, Induction-Run (2) The Repulsion Motor (3) Repulsion-Induction motor. They each have their own characteristics of course. The movable brush version was to enable reversing of the motor. Some had a brush...

3 Phase Motor - 3 Individual Circuit Breakers - Detect if 1 Breaker Tripped And Shut Down Motor

I am still not clear why you cannot use a simple standard 3ph O/L on the contactor output? They come with adjustable current range and can be had in a stand-alone type as well as fit to the bottom of a contactor. Commonly have 1 N.C. & 1 N.O. control contact. M.

Help me hijack a brushless DC motor from a cordless drill

There are BLDC and ECM motors that operate without physical sensor, they generally exercise the motor at power up to sense rotor position and from then on detect electronically. The typical ECM motors used in HVAC blower systems operate this way. The most definite way, is the hall sensor. M.

Need Help Identifying PCB Mounted Transformer

Many of those types of transformer have a thermal fuse embedded in the windings, with some luck you can detect the two ends of the fuse and short them out to test, transformers seldom fail open, usaully shorted. M.

Help me hijack a brushless DC motor from a cordless drill

Almost impossible to speculate from a distance, if you can locate the three hall sensors and their supply then it should be possible to use practically any common BLDC controller that receives hall sensors. Probabally some more reverse engineering is needed! M.

45 amp Battery looking to prevent arc flash.

You could try a suitably sized magnet close to the contacts, acting as an arc blow out as fitted to many high current relays. M.

3 Phase Motor - 3 Individual Circuit Breakers - Detect if 1 Breaker Tripped And Shut Down Motor

Either way could work, I think I would go with the output side detection, You will need a small bridge and resistor for the opto's. M.

3 Phase Motor - 3 Individual Circuit Breakers - Detect if 1 Breaker Tripped And Shut Down Motor

The 3ph NFB, (non-Fused Breaker) is often used, but as opposed to the OP's method, the NFB drops all three phases. These can also be obtained with remote trip action or trip detection contact. M.

3 Phase Motor - 3 Individual Circuit Breakers - Detect if 1 Breaker Tripped And Shut Down Motor

Why not do it the usual way with 3ph contactors with O/L's attached, each O/L normally has a N.O. and a N.C, contact for sensing. The N.C. is typically used to drop the contactor coil, the N.O. is for a sensing/indicator circuit of some kind. When using a PLC, I used to use the N.O. as a...

    single-phase motor speed control

The only single phase induction motors that work with variable speed method is the type most used in fans, that is the both small shaded pole motor and the PSC, Permanent Start Cap motor, typically using Triac controllers. There is actually a VFD out there for larger single phase motors but they...

    I need a relay HJR-3FF-S-Z 24v coil

The usual reason for a sealed relay is if it is working in a harsh environment where contamination can occur, not really needed in this application. They all come sealed, mainly for the production de-fluxing stage, but those that can be opened, have the pip, but in many cases they are never...

    Reverse Day/Night

There are a multitude of 555 LDR circuits out there (Google), you would just need to juxtapose the pot or res with the LDR to get the reverse action. If an AC pump, use a relay on the output, if DC, a Mosfet. M.
