Load Driving from Transformer with Secondary Center Tap Earthed

The problem is that in N.A., the term Ground is also used for a Earth referenced conductor as well as chassis common etc. Back when I grew up in the UK, we always used the term Earth for a conductor or plane that was actually connected or directly reference to the earth ground.;) On the same...

using Diodes/NC switches as Motor Limit switches.

I have used the method you show in the your posts, i.e. diodes across the L.S. and always has worked, I suspect that you have both diodes biased in the same polarity. M.

    On a D.C. power supply.

The typical SMPS, whether Wall-Wart or larger 24vdc etc supply, there is generally galvanic isolation between the AC supply and the DC output. In the case of the PC SMPS supply, the DC common is connected to the service Earth ground conductor via the chassis. The service GND is connected to the...

    On a D.C. power supply.

The vast majority of SMPS supplies are isolated from the AC service and earth ground. (other than the P.C. ver). M.

    On a D.C. power supply.

One such example is where the secondary of a transformer is connected to earth, and if the DC side after rectification would be grounded then it would cause a short circuit, just one of a few examples. Most are fairly rare now. Remember your P.C. PS common is also connected to earth ground via...

    On a D.C. power supply.

There are basically two schools of thought over earth grounding DC power supply common's etc, one, to keep every section isolated and the other to bond all DC P.S. commons to a common earth ground start point, usually a chassis mounted plate of some kind. I subscribe to this latter method and...

    On a D.C. power supply.

What is the make of CNC controller? "12V negative side running to the 5v transformer" is that actually the DC common side? Generally all DC commons are taken to a star point Earth ground point, together with the service earth ground conductor. This is to prevent spurious tripping of L.S. inputs...

Momentary Switch to directional DC motor

A problem here may be in attempting to instantly reverse the motor, if running in high speed in each case, could stress motor and P.S.! Effectively creating a dead short until motor actually reverses. M.

Momentary Switch to directional DC motor

The return is shown as two places where the GND or common connection is made to the DC supply common. With the logic circuits you still need a reversing relay or? Using the first flip-flop relay cct, (flipflop.pdf) you use a spare contacts on RLA for fwd/rev. Using just 24vdc. M.
