    You will also have to define/place the +12v -12v and GND as power points/sources Look in the Power directory and you will see a few xxx_FLAG symbols. This is if you wish to make PCboard and Gerbers etc. The Kicad forum is also useful. M.

    Gecko is a good source of stepper controllers. Steppers are not that common for linear actuators. There are many linear actuators with DC brushed motors, but I assume it is too late now! Looks like that one is aimed at DIY CNC machines. Possibly you could just replace the motor? M.

    There are not many of those old 3ph motors out there that are solely 220v, you may also find that some of that vintage are repulsion-induction motors and have a wound rotor and a commutator for the repulsion start. They look like the one posted but are 1ph however. Good luck with the VFD. M.

    You may have quite a hard time finding 3phase induction motors for 12v/24v . There are many P.M. field 3ph motors but they require a different controller to a induction motor.     I assumed you are asking for a induction motor VFD? For N.A. 220/240 you ignore the centre taped neutral and use the L1-L2 legs for 240vac. The typical induction motor VFD not only creates a 3 phase sine wave but modulates it with PWM for energy content of the 3phase. M.

    If you already have a COM (DB9) port on the PC what else do you need? If you don't have a COM port then often there is a plug on the PC MB for it. M.

    What type of motor is it, if bi-directional, then I assume it is a PSC motor if induction, if so you would need to swap the start run winding's over to reverse. A snubber around 150ohm in series with a .1uf cap for a start might solve the failure problem. M. .

    Confusing about grounding for regular AC-DC SMPS

    Looks correct to me, if the 3ph transformer using one phase and neutral is the service supply source, UK and elsewhere. The input filter is typical and desktop and tower PC's have the isolated PC SMPS supply referenced to earth GND via the DC common conductor. M.

    If using a sub relay and the contact declaration is about the same, just measure the coil resistance to compare, but relays of the same footprint and type, voltage etc, are not going to be That far off, at least enough to worry about. M.

    As mentioned, that would be a SMPS and in many cases has an internal fuse, maybe pay to check. M.

    There is a schematic or circuit diagram, and if for the actual PCT board production, the common types in use are called Gerber files, which translates to all the physical attributes of the PCB. You need to clarify what they mean. M.
